Concession Policies
Mims Park is an “All Volunteer” organization. Volunteer participation is essential in order to maintain a quality program while keeping participation fees affordable.
The Mims Park Board of Directors has adopted the following policies concerning concession duties:
- At least one parent per child will be required to work in the concession stands when their team is assigned concession duty or duties.
- 2. Parents with 3 or more children playing baseball/softball will be given special consideration in order to limit their total number of assignments.
- 3. The following individuals are exempt from concession duty: MPAA board members, MPAA Auxiliary members and team managers (only for the league in which they are coaching).
- 4. If the team assigned to concession duty does not adequately cover the concession stands, they will forfeit the next game. It is the responsibility of the coach and team mom to ensure both concession stands are fully staffed with volunteers or buyout workers. Failure of a parent to work any scheduled concession shift(s) could prohibit your child from playing his or her next scheduled game.
- 5. Children under 8 are not allowed in the concession stands at any time. This is a safety
policy and is in effect at all times, even when the parent is working their assignment. Parents are asked to keep their children 8 years + out of the concession stands unless they have prior approval of the Auxiliary.
- 6. If a parent/team is unable to work their scheduled concession shift, the following options are available:
- a. The team mom or coach will notify the Auxiliary VP of the conflict and attempt to swap shifts with another team no less than four weeks prior to the assigned duty.
- b. If after receiving the Teams Concession Schedule a parent finds a conflict with another family event such as a graduation, etc., the assignment(s) may be bought out. The buyout must be done immediately after the schedules are distributed and will be limited on a first come basis. The fee is $25.00 and is payable in advance to Auxiliary. Any buyouts after the date will be on a case by case basis.
- c. Any team not reporting to duty and adequately covering both concession stands for their allotted time will forfeit their next scheduled game. Emergency replacement workers can be hired for $35 per shift per person if the team mom or coach is short handed and a replacement can be located.
Every effort is made in preparing the concession schedules to avoid scheduling conflicts for parents who have several children playing in our program. However, conflicts do occur. If you are scheduled to work for one of your children while another child is playing please try to swap with another parent on your team.
THE POLICIES STATED ABOVE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!
Concession schedules will be distributed by Team Moms prior to Jamboree Day. All league concession schedules are posted on the website www.mimspark.org for your convenience. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENTS (NOT COACHES OR TEAM MOTHERS) TO KNOW THE DATES AND TIMES OF THEIR CONCESSION DUTY.
*****CHANGES for 2011: Each team will be responsible for “one day”. “One day” includes two shifts in both concession stands with each parent working at least one shift with their team parents.
For example: The Red Sox are assigned March 24th. There will be two concession stands open, up the hill and down the hill. There will be at least two games on each set of fields. With a team of 12 children, we will need 2-3 parents in each concession for each set of games, one early shift and one late shift. Each concession will open at 6pm and close around 9pm, so 2 parents may work up the hill from 5:45pm to 7:30pm and 2 different parents work 7:30 to 9 or close. While 3 parents work down the hill from 5:45pm to 7:30pm and 3 different parents work 7:30 to 9:30 or close. Typically games down the hill run a little later. Mr. Joey will assist in the concession up the hill each night and Saturday. An Auxiliary worker will deliver the money and help open each night.
Saturday example: Saturday will work just as above, with each parent working one shift, but there will be two teams assigned to the day to cover the double game schedule.
Please be prompt for your concession duty. We cannot open the concession stand until the parents arrive.
The following excuses are given frequently and will not be considered:
1. I forgot.
2. I did not get a schedule.
3. My name is spelled incorrectly.
4. I have already worked 1 time.
5. My team mother did not remind me.
6. I was out of town.
Please remember, a successful program depends on YOUR PARTICIPATION!
Thank You!
